Welcome to Cherry Hinton Care Home

At Cherry Hinton, we specialise in residential care for older people who require general support or who may be living with the experience of dementia.

Cherry Hinton Care Home is a 60 bed care home situated in Cherry Hinton, Cambridge. The home was constructed in 1996 opening in the spring of 1997 and is a purpose built home. Cherry Hinton is built over 3 storeys with the ground and first floor occupied by the residents. Situated on the corner of Cherry Hinton Road and Kelvin Close it has good transport links with the city centre and the local shops.

Cherry Hinton has recently come to the end of a major refurbishment and expansion project which has seen the home increase in bed size from 40 beds to 60. 20 of the rooms are now full en-suite facilities including showers, while the existing rooms are standard en-suites. The home also has its own hair salon as part of the refurbishment, where a dedicated hairdresser comes to the home weekly to treat the residents.

The secure courtyard garden was also included in the refurbishment and has now been transformed into a fabulous garden, enabling dementia residents to wander through it hearing and seeing stimulating sounds and sights in different areas. Raised beds enable easy access to the plants for residents to be able to touch and smell them. A lovely conservatory also allows for the residents to sit in comfort and look out over the garden.

A fully equipped in-house laundry ensures that residents benefit from a prompt service delivered on the premises.

Our team includes qualified nurses and care assistants, along with a housekeeping team who take care of cleaning and laundry services. Onsite maintenance ensures the home is kept to a high standard.

Our full time activities coordinator organises daily quizzes, hobbies and outings. We are more than happy to discuss any particular activities that residents would like to do. The home is situated a short walk from a selection of local shops and an activity enjoyed by a number of residents is a trip to the shops where they can buy their own items for their rooms.
